An Experimental Study on SO2 Emission and Ash Deposition Characteristics of High Alkali Red Mud under Large Proportional Co-Combustion Conditions in Fluidized Bed

As an industrial solid waste, the discharge of a large amount red mud (RM) causes serious environmental problems; thus, proportion RM co-combustion has been proposed to solve consumption problem. In this paper, experiment with various proportions was conducted on 0.2 t/h circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler. Desulfurization performance, combustion characteristics, and ash deposition characteristics were analyzed, especially under proportional conditions. study results showed, desulfurization efficiency positively correlated proportion. When reached 50%, over 94%. After period cyclic combustion, highest exceeded 99.5%. The smaller size beneficial improve stability. However, area sintering formed top heating surface in furnace, which lighter than high alkali fuels such as Zhundong coal. Meanwhile, content sulfates, Na2SO4 CaSO4, increased, clearly proves that effect. Therefore, could meet requirements in-situ realize resource utilization RM.
